I discovered this cabinet card on http://joshuafountain.tumblr.com/.
Wedding? Circus? Festival? It certainly is some sort of novelty. Maybe some kitschy ideas to spice up my own ride.

Looks like a Middle East wedding procession. Bride below with attendants riding on top. Persian?
For some reason, I think it may be faux Persian. Something like the Veiled Prophet ceremony or the like.
Well done Jake! It turns out to be a Zenana Carriage of Persian origin. I’ve just started looking at it but seems popular among traditionalist Hindus in India.
its called a purdah
Sorry I meant that it is used in India for the practice of Purdah, the women the veiling of women and they had carriages with curtains. That would have been a carriage from a family of royals. Obviously a special occassion, a wedding seems likely as they would have photographed it to document it.
Excellent. I thought someone would know this. It looks very theatrical and is meant to attract a lot of attention.
Thanks!
Then for a bridal procession for Hindus. In years gone they were carried on elephants. Jake
Yes, a wealthy Urdu thing it seems.
